FolkGuide is here to sing the praises of folk music in all its forms, traditional and contemporary, A directory of those who perform, those who promote and those who just love to watch and listen to our national treasure of music and feel this genre of music should have the publicity and logistic assistance it deserves.

ASHLEY HUTCHINGS - FOLK MUSIC LEGEND - MORRIS ON

'FolkGuide is a most welcome, concise aid to our folk scene. It's a thing we have needed for many years.'

JUST IN CASE YOU MISSED THIS QUOTE FROM THE MAN HIMSELF, BOB DYLAN, ABOUT ASHLEY HUTCHINGS

'Ashley Hutchings is the single most important figure in English folk rock. Before that his group Fairport Convention recorded some of the best versions of my unreleased songs. Listen to the bass playing on Percy's Song to hear how great he is.'

Folk Music is a part of any country's National Heritage. It's seen many changes through the years but its traditions still remain and new music appears through new generations of musicians. It's important folk music survives, be it through traditional music collected by our ancestors or through modern songwriters, musicians, traditional singers and dancers. Whatever genre is your taste FolkGuide can assist and contribute to the exciting resurgence of Great Britain's folk scene.

RICHARD DIGANCE

'FolkGuide is a long-awaited site that unites all aspects of the folk scene, whatever your personal taste happens to be.'

'Richard Digance is brilliant,' Bill Bryson.

Folk became a tired description a few decades ago and it became known as Roots Music or Indi-Traditional Music in an attempt to keep up with various cool trends, yet it remains folk music, songs of the people. We at FolkGuide think it's high time our music returned to being plain and simple folk music, because that's what it is. Now folk music is as vibrant as ever, folk singers are highly respected and folk clubs, although admittedly fewer in numbers these days remain the hub of this wonderful music. Folk singers, musicians and dancers are performing and recording with as much enthusiasm and belief as ever before and FolkGuide is a very proud kind of directory, a kind of Yellow Pages if you like, giving all the details of who they are, their style, where you can see them perform or record and how to contact them. They are all waiting to hear from you. We also provide useful tips and information if you, yourself, want to get up and perform a few songs, with advice on sound and recording.

TOM LEARY - FEAST OF FIDDLES

'A brilliant much needed site the folk scene will appreciate and I'm here to help in any way I can.'

From open mic, singarounds and singers nights beginnings to concert and festival performers, from demos to album recording facilities, pubs, festivals, theatres and folk clubs. All you need to know can be found through our pages.

SIMON CARE - ALBION CHRISTMAS BAND

'A brilliant idea and one that can only help the folk scene for performers and audiences alike.'
